ABOUT THE FINNBUILD METHOD

As winner of the All Africa Innovative Housing competition run by the South African Government, the NHBRC and ABSA Bank, FinnBUILDER can claim to be Africa's best building innovation. It is an alternative building system. The system makes use of easy to operate concrete slip forms and 15 MPa reinforced no-slump concrete. This ensures that structures are strong and yet all of this is achieved at surprisingly low cost.

LOWER COST

Building with FinnBUILDER™ costs just R164 / m2. This includes materials, labour and floating but before painting.

Building with bricks costs R315 / m2. This also includes materials, labour and plastering but before painting. You save R 58 000 building a typical 200 m2 house with FinnBUILDER™ rather than with bricks.

Click on our detailed Cost Comparison for more information.

QUICK

It takes just under two minutes to fill, compact and move the FinnBUILDER™ forward. In doing that, you will lay 240 FinnBUILDER™ sections a day or the equivalent of 2880 stock bricks a day. (each FinnBUILDER™ section is the equivalent of 12 stock bricks).

A qualified bricklayer will do 400 to 700 stock bricks a day (some are faster and others are a lot slower). The main criteria is to build with quality however, because what you build with FinnBUILDER™ is going to be around for the next 150 years!

STRONG

FinnBUILDER™ walls are extremely strong. Follow the concrete mixes which we give you and your walls will cure to a strength between 15 to 20 MPa. Cement stock bricks are manufactured to just 5 to 7 MPa.

LOOKS GREAT

Float or plaster the wall once finished and you house will look just the same as any other plastered home anywhere else. It will just be a lot stronger. See our Gallery for some of the beautiful homes that people have built for themselves.
